Quitting Caffeine
I occasionally quit caffeine as a way to recalibrate the tolerance that develops over time. But, within certain limits (my general consumption is 1-2 coffees a day, sometimes 3-4 if super tired or when exercising), there's very few negatives for most people, and quite a number of benefits. Nice explanatory video on the matter: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OTVE5iPMKLg
⬐ tnecnivI also find that my tolerance drops very quickly when I quit. When I'm on vacation, I don't drink much coffee because my schedule is different. I find after 2-3 days, I no longer am in withdrawal and when I come back from a 1-2 week break, my tolerance is very low.

Show HN: I invented a caffeinated toothpaste
I don't think caffeine has many negative health implications. Although it has certainly wasted my time by leaving me too jittery to work. There is a great cgp grey video on caffeine:

How Your Brain Becomes Addicted to Caffeine
The article doesn't seem to mention whether coffee is healthy or not. One thing is if it is addictive, but if it is healthy (or even if it just isn't unhealthy), I've got to ask... so what if it is addictive?
⬐ aestraI am sure that it is dependent on the individual. I know some people who can't have caffeine due to various health reasons and others can't tolorrate the effects.

Silicon Valley is high on innovation. And pot
You've reminded me of this video talking about coffee now: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OTVE5iPMKLgIs there really any good reason why I shouldn't be drinking a lot of coffee? It seems I see as many researches claiming I shouldn't drink much coffee as I see researches claiming I should. I'm not sure what to think about coffee at this point.
⬐ fzzzyDoctors also used to recommend that people smoke cigarettes.⬐ NoneNone⬐ wglbAt one period of my life, I drank enormous amounts of coffee. One weekend, I found myself yelling at every member of my family. I decided to totally stop. This was painful with headaches and irritability for about a week. Then, once that was all out of my system, I noticed that my sleep was different. More calm, somehow.
The last bit convinced me to continue not drinking coffee. I now do perhaps one cup a week, or less.
