Hacker News Stories and Comments
All the comments and stories posted to Hacker News that reference this video. That's indeed the reference, yep: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Mh5LY4Mz15o
The short version:- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mh5LY4Mz15o
There is an option for enforcement you're not realizing here, called the Commodore Mathew Perry method, it goes like this. --Location: Tax Havens-->Knock Knock Its the United States
With huge boats, with guns, gunboats.
>Open your banks' records, stop having them be closed
and theres not much they can do about.
So they sign a treaty making sure their banks' records are not closed.

Inspired by this, both historically and in delivery https://youtu.be/Mh5LY4Mz15o?t=4m46s
⬐ BaleroAre you suggesting the USA does this to tax havens like Ireland, The Netherlands and The City of London? Is it not a thing for startups to be based out of Delaware for a tax advantage? Would the ships even have to leave the harbor to do this?
⬐ socialist_coderThere are multiple levels of tax avoidance / money hiding being discussed here. You are responding to someone talking about the worst level, which was documented in the Panama Papers and the Paradise Papers. It involves rich individuals who hide money in banks in the Seychelles, Cayman Islands, etc.Very different from tax avoidance schemes that companies use to pay lower taxes by incorporating in low tax jurisdictions or funneling the money through multiple countries.
⬐ SimbaOnSteroidsI wasn't suggesting it as serious solution. And I was under the impression that startups use Delaware because it has a boatload of case law that favors investors.
⬐ rdlThere is basically no tax advantage for startups in being based in Delaware -- you end up registering as a "foreign corporation" and paying in-state taxes whenever you're actually located. Delaware is chosen because of the body of corporate law and efficient secretary of state.⬐ matco11Yep. 100%. ...and it does not apply only to startups but also to large corporations
Those jingles are funny the first few times, but they get annoying pretty fast.Anyway, happy to see this linked here. He also did a similar video for the history of Japan [0], quite entertaining.
⬐ pmontraAgreed, those singing moments are annoying but the video is good, lot of research. I wonder how much time went into it.⬐ ominousThe creator said it took him 11 months.
The only reason i know these countries have a history is from watching this video a couple day back(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mh5LY4Mz15o).It is strange but i never really thought of Russia as neighbours with China or Korea with a shared history.
⬐ mappuLove that cozy vaporwave AESTHETIC⬐ codehotterI love this. There's something unique about mixing a traditionally dry topic like history with the super playfulness of the narration. The choice of words, the ridiculous flashing text and little pictures and jingles... Couldn't stop watching.
Not mechanical, so much lower resolution... but you might have recently seen the History of Japan video being linked around... the guy who did that, Bill Wurtz also did this:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YBI-nZTUgf8
There's an entire subreddit of this stuff as I guess it's really good practice for playing by ear:
https://www.reddit.com/r/zappafied
It includes this awesome Palin one:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YBI-nZTUgf8
P.S. In case you missed it this is the History of Japan one again: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mh5LY4Mz15o If you watch it again, you can hear him using that technique of harmonizing with his own spoken voice in the background music of that video.
⬐ ardiemThis technique is similar to one Steve Reich's incorporated in a lot of his music, most notably Different Trains (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LsRpfbTI1EA)⬐ cousin_itI'm 5 minutes into /r/zappafied and it's already my new favorite thing. Thank you!⬐ agumonkeyHa... there's a guy named Chassol who does the same live. Lovely to find more.⬐ inoThat reminds me of the metal band Spastic Ink playing voices, sounds and music from Bambi.original: https://youtu.be/X5SWc_k_Hmk?t=16m59s
with Bambi: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UhP4lg28fs0
Something awesome happened to me. I've known the album well but I didn't know the track was from Bambi. It was a weird track. Some time later I decided to watch Bambi because I was into animation classics and it was awesome all the time thinking "where have I heard this before?" Thank you for making me remember this awesome experience I've had.
