CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Wayne (Mike Myers) and Garth (Dana Carvey) explain to Benjamin (Rob Lowe) that they are not in it for the money.

FILM DESCRIPTION:
Based on the Saturday Night Live sketch of the same name, Wayne's World is a wacky, irreverent pop-culture comedy about the adventures of two amiably aimless metal-head friends, Wayne (Mike Myers) and Garth (Dana Carvey). From Wayne's basement, the pair broadcast a talk-show called "Wayne's World" on local public access television. The show comes to the attention of a sleazy network executive (Rob Lowe) who wants to produce a big-budget version of "Wayne's World"--and he also wants Wayne's girlfriend, a rock singer named Cassandra (Tia Carrere). Wayne and Garth have to battle the executive not only to save their show, but also Cassandra. Director Penelope Spheeris, Myers and Carvey hang a lot of silly, but funny, jokes on this thin plot, and the energy of the cast--as well as the wild pop-culture references--make Wayne's World a cut above the average Saturday Night Live spin-off movie.

In addition to cable going to ads, it deserves mention that many shows today feature brand advertising right in the program.

I pay for Netflix, but go watch a Korean drama and they are clearly advertising Subway, KFC, Samsung, etc. right there in the show through the show itself.

Movies do this too, and you paid for that expensive ticket. Wayne's World even did a parody of this in 1992:

Advertising is incredibly pervasive in our modern society and only going to increase.

product placement: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KjB6r-HDDI0

(somewhere I once ran across a discussion of "Starship Troopers" the book vs. "Starship Troopers" the movie, complete with a matrix of reactions depending upon how ironically one thought the ideas presented in each should be taken)

It took me a while to realize what the problem is.

For a long time, we've seen sponsored content as a bad, evil thing, that is driven by greed and capitalism. ( See corresponding Wayne's World moment https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KjB6r-HDDI0 )

This still stands for many situations but it seems like there are people out there only accepting and promoting things they: - believe in - have no issues with ( neither moral, nor technical ) - or even actually use them.

All these cases are, in my opinion, valid cases for accepting money and is pretty far from evil.

Image a world where all the commercials are done by people actually believing in the product - and not the money behind it.

I'm not sure you described any real problem.

More like the creators have no clue on how to run a business. No different than many starving artists who have no monetization talent or abilities.
