Actually, this is incorrect due to the way the road plan in Amsterdam is designed.

If you really want so see a true Bicycle Paradise in the Netherlands you will have to travel a few miles further to Almere, and gaze upon the completely separate and mostly accident-free bicycle lanes.

The only risk you have is getting hit by a bus when you cross the separate bus lane, which sometimes run straight along the bicycle lane, without paying attention.
