James DiCarlo, Head of the MIT Brain and Cognitive Sciences Department, leads a panel discussion and audience Q&A related to how the study of the mind and brain, merged with the creation of engineered systems, enables a deeper understanding of human intelligence. This wide-ranging discussion touches on topics such as analogies between neural processing in the brain and deep learning networks, innate knowledge and how infants learn, the challenges of building general purpose robots, human-brain interfaces, technological advances in the treatment of brain disorders and sensory deficits, and ethical issues that arise in brain science and AI. Panelists are MIT faculty Antonio Torralba, Josh Tenenbaum, Josh McDermott, and Leslie Kaelbling. This event was hosted by the MIT Brain and Cognitive Sciences Department and the MIT Alumni Association.
