Ask HN: Best beginner friendly linear algebra book?
https://www.amazon.com/Numerical-Linear-Algebra-Lloyd-Trefet...that book, i think, is fantastic. i was a TA for a graduate (and undergraduate) level course using it in Urbana-Champaign around 25 years ago. It's just a great book.

Self Studying the MIT Applied Math Curriculum
Another great "intermediate" textbook (in my opinion) is Trefethen's Numerical Linear Algebra [1]. Much more readable than Golub's I would say, which is more like a reference than a textbook.[1]: https://www.amazon.com/Numerical-Linear-Algebra-Lloyd-Trefet...
⬐ dxbydtThis is actually the best book of the lot.⬐ lasersonStrongly agree. This was actually the text book when I took numerical methods at MIT. As far as math texts go, it is definitely a joy to read.

Ask HN: Learn Math the Hard Way
Question: is anyone working through Numerical Linear Algebra, or has done so in the past?http://www.amazon.com/Numerical-Linear-Algebra-Lloyd-Trefeth...
I'm having a really tough time with the exercises even though I should have the prereqs... What can I say, we don't do much rigorous math in engineering.
Anyways this book came highly recommended to me from a friend in quantitative finance.
