Although I agree with most of the answers here, I'm gonna go against the grain a little bit and recommend a book. Not a programming book. But one that is written with the explicit intent to give an "Understanding of the Digital World. it explains how computer hardware, software, and networks work. Topics include how computers are built and how they compute; what programming is; how the Internet and web operate; and how all of these affect security, privacy, property, and other important social, political, and economic issues."I'd suggest the second edition that was published in 2021 as it apparently adds a few sections about more recent "buzzwords/booming-industries".
Disclaimer: I have not read it my self, but I have heard that it is well written and the author Brian Kernighan is a small-celebrity in our world. I have watched a few youtube explained by him on technical topics which was very good.
