Amazon Summary
For more than twenty years, millions of managers in Fortune 500 companies and small businesses nationwide have followed The One Minute Manager's techniques, thus increasing their productivity, job satisfaction, and personal prosperity. These very real results were achieved through learning the management techniques that spell profitability for the organization and its employees. The One Minute Manager is a concise, easily read story that reveals three very practical secrets: One Minute Goals, One Minute Praisings, and One Minute Reprimands. The book also presents several studies in medicine and the behavioral sciences that clearly explain why these apparently simple methods work so well with so many people. By the book's end you will know how to apply them to your own situation and enjoy the benefits. That's why The One Minute Manager has continued to appear on business bestseller lists for more than two decades, and has become an international sensation.

Particularly for the non-programming roles, I recommend the One Minute Manager (http://www.amazon.com/The-Minute-Manager-Kenneth-Blanchard/d...). This was written long before agile became a "thing", but it was a way of managing effectively with very little effort. It's a bit dated (my copy had advice about briefly putting your hand on the employee's shoulder to let them know you really care about them. Do not do this!)

Aside from that, here was my experience with the book back in the 1980s: I was managing a small family entertainment center and I was working too hard and was on the verge of being fired. I was told to buy the book. When I got done with it, I applied what it said, I dramatically reworked procedures to be clearer and simpler and found myself with too much time on my hands and the center was much easier to run. I wound up going from being on the verge of getting fired to getting multiple promotions and transfers to better locations.

Some people don't like the book, claiming it's too simplistic, but it's short, and both easy to remember and apply.

Thank you for your suggestion! It seems like there is no private messaging function and I couldn't find your email but I wanted to thank you for your help.
This looks great!

One suggestion I would have is to tell the users upfront about the affiliate links. I don't have a problem with them but the amazon links are minified.

For example this is the link the user is shown: http://amzn.to/bkB3gr This is what it expands to: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0688014291?ie=UTF8&tag=...

By not mentioning the affiliate link and only showing an obfuscated link it gives the appearance that you are trying to pull something over on the user.

I think a statement on the front page saying that links are affiliate links, or just putting the actual links on the pages would help with gaining the user's trust.

Great site:)

edit I know see this on the site: external links to amazon are through their affiliate program

Great:) Back to reviewing books to buy!

Fixed.

No deception was intended -- I just like being able to track links with Bit.ly real-time instead of waiting overnight for Amazon reporting -- but I can see your point. Hopefully the new text will clear that up.

Glad you liked it.

I didn't mean to imply that there was. Your reputation here earned you the benefit of the doubt:)
